The Kitchen
The local food movement has taken a foothold in the Willamette Valley. Its presence has inspired local chefs and those interested in local food. Bringing local food into the home kitchen is an essential part of supporting local agriculture. Members of the Willamette Valley community are committed to helping others bring local foods into their kitchens through cooking classes and workshops. There are a variety of cooking classes available that utilize local and seasonal foods.

Another movement, Slow Food, has gained ground promoting the idea of food that is not fast, thus home cooking. This, coupled with the local food movement, emphasizes a holistic look at food, where it comes from, how we interact with it socially, and how it shapes our health.
